Medical Office Supplies Information

There are some unique medical office supplies you may require which are  specific to your specialty. In addition to all the ‘normal’ office supplies needed like pads, pens, paper, etc. there are a large number of items which are specific to the office and practice.

Medical Office Supplies Brands

You may be required to stock items specific to a manufacturer like:

  • Invacare®
  • Honeywell®
  • Mentor®
  • Roche Diagnostic®
  • Omron®
  • Alimed®

Some suppliers offer substantial discounts if you can place a ‘long’ order, meaning you can order all the supplies you will need for an extended period of time (like 12 months). The manufacturer/supplier can then ship the order every month per the order. Of course not all office have the luxury of knowing what supplies they will be needing that far in advance.

In that case you may be able to qualify for a discount depending on the size of the order. Some suppliers give discounts for orders over a specific dollar amount while others don’t set specific dollar amounts but instead provide ‘quantity’ discounts.

Even if you don’t qualify for a discount you may still be able to save some money. If you are accustomed to ordering over the internet then it will require you to take a little extra time. At least the first time. All you have to do is pick up the phone and call the medical office supplies supplier directly. Most have toll free numbers. When you get their representative on the line tell them that you would like to do business with their company but would like some ‘help’ on the prices.

In many cases, that’s all it takes to get some pretty good discounts.

At the very least you should ask for free shipping on your order.

Another thing to watch for is a ‘Coupon Code’ box on an internet medical office supplies order form. I’m sure you have seen them; they are pretty common these days. If you see a box asking for a coupon code then you know that the company is offering discounts to other people/companies buying from them. A quick internet search for “coupon code”+the vendor name may get you the code you need. When searching for codes be sure to put quotation marks around the phrase “coupon code” and then follow the ending quote with a + sign and then the suppliers name. So the phrase entered in your browser window would look like this “coupon code”+ABC Medical Office Supplies (just change the supplier name after the + sign to the vendor you are searching for.

If your internet search doesn’t bring up the results you want, then pick up the phone and ask their representative for a permanent coupon code to use for online ordering. You want a permanent code because you don’t want to have to call them every time you place an order.  More times than not, they will give you a code that is good forever.

The internet is great and speeds up the process for us but talking to a person on the phone will, in many cases, be worth your while when you buy medical office supplies.
